Minutes of the July 21, 2003 Meeting of the

Decatur Rotary Club #180

Present:

Miley Palmer, Heather Stoa, Stu Ellis, Tom Brinkoetter, Kit Paulin, Bob Lloyd, Harold Murphy, Wayne Allen, Martin Getty, Jim Finn, Paul Luedtke, and Mary Ann Luedtke.

The July, 2003 meeting of the Board of Directors of the Decatur Rotary Club #180 was held at the Decatur Club and was called to order at 11:00 AM by President Miley Palmer, who then turned the meeting over to District Governor, Paul Luedtke.

Mr. Luedtke introduced his wife, Mary Ann Luedtke, then proceeded to share his thoughts on the coming Rotary year.

He stated that the purpose of the District is to help clubs in every aspect of club business.

General discussion highlighted our clubs successes and concerns. They included:

Programming

Grants Program

Quality of Membership

Retention of Young Members

The new goal of the Rotary Foundation was stated as: “Every Member, Every Year”.

Discussion highlighted the Foundations efforts in eradicating polio and Jipor Foot Prosthesis due to landmines.

It was noted that the secretary has a catalog of promotional information.

There is a new simplified grant. Each district may request one simplified grant ($20,000 this year) which may be divided up any way possible.

Future Plans involve:

Opening the Front Door to New Members and

Closing the Back Door to Current Members. These efforts may be aided by keeping in touch with current members and reaching out to poor attendees.

Other notes from the conversation:

Fantastic programs are important.

Make an effort to involve the new members.

Liz Skinner will take the district’s foundation meetings to 4 regions of the club.

Our club is “missed” at the district level and we are encouraged to become more active.

The meeting was dismissed at 11:55.
