Minutes of the July 21, 2003 Meeting of the
Decatur Rotary Club #180
Present:
Miley Palmer, Heather Stoa, Stu Ellis, Tom Brinkoetter, Kit
Paulin, Bob Lloyd, Harold Murphy, Wayne Allen, Martin Getty,
Jim Finn, Paul Luedtke, and Mary Ann Luedtke.
The July, 2003 meeting of the Board of Directors of the Decatur
Rotary Club #180 was held at the Decatur Club and was called
to order at 11:00 AM by President Miley Palmer, who then turned
the meeting over to District Governor, Paul Luedtke.
Mr. Luedtke introduced his wife, Mary Ann Luedtke, then proceeded
to share his thoughts on the coming Rotary year.
He stated that the purpose of the District is to help clubs
in every aspect of club business.
General discussion highlighted our clubs successes and concerns.
They included:
Programming
Grants Program
Quality of Membership
Retention of Young Members
The new goal of the Rotary Foundation was stated as: Every
Member, Every Year.
Discussion highlighted the Foundations efforts in eradicating
polio and Jipor Foot Prosthesis due to landmines.
It was noted that the secretary has a catalog of promotional
information.
There is a new simplified grant. Each district may request
one simplified grant ($20,000 this year) which may be divided
up any way possible.
Future Plans involve:
Opening the Front Door to New Members and
Closing the Back Door to Current Members. These efforts may
be aided by keeping in touch with current members and reaching
out to poor attendees.
Other notes from the conversation:
Fantastic programs are important.
Make an effort to involve the new members.
Liz Skinner will take the districts foundation meetings
to 4 regions of the club.
Our club is missed at the district level and we
are encouraged to become more active.
The meeting was dismissed at 11:55.
