President 2011-12 |
In my fifteen years of Rotary, I think I would know it all. However, the more I learn about Rotary the more I realize how much I don’t know.
Recently I read of the efforts of our Rotary Foundation and the work they do funding Mercy Ships. These are traveling hospitals that provide free health care to developing countries. I read of Rotary efforts providing service projects in Kenya, funding birthing centers in Mongolia and tornado relief in Joplin Missouri. I read of Rotarians who have developed peaceful resolution programs that are helping diffuse gang tensions in Chicago as well as resolving conflicts between countries.
Thank God for the wonderful work of Rotarians all over the world. I look at our own community of Decatur and I see our club providing thousands of dollars to worthy charities and agencies doing great work. There are so many worthy causes in Decatur and what we do in Rotary is extremely helpful to these charities.
I tip my new Rotary ball cap in honor of our Decatur Rotary Club 180 for the tremendous support we provide to our community. Thank you and God bless you.
Yours in Rotary, Paul Stanzione
